Ruth Whitehill

Eight year old Ruth Whitehill became a private patient of Banting's in June of 1922. She had been brought for treatment to Toronto from her home in Baltimore where she was a patient of Dr. Louis Hamburger. She received her first injection of insulin on June 17, 1922. She made satisfactory progress throughout the summer and was able to return home to Baltimore at the end of September. There, she resumed her treatments under Dr. Hamburger.
